viehdorfer & associates DISABILITY INSURANCE: individual disability carriers

We use the following disability carriers, depending on the clients needs and market. Financial strength and investment quality are very important for any insurer, but especially those in the disability market. All of these companies have excellent ratings and/or reinsurance.

The Guardian - Provides one of the best contracts available to white collar professionals on the market today.
Mass Mutual - MM uses an income replacement policy, without a true own-occ designation. There is the typical two year restriction on mental and nervous as well. Can be waived in certain circumstances.
Berkshire Life - now a wholly owned stock subsidiary of The Guardian. Berkshire has always had excellent policies, and is now responsible for the disability operations of The Guardian.
Standard Life - a basic guaranteed renewable contract; also does group policies.
UNUM Provident - A result of the mergers between Union Mutual, Provident, and Paul Revere, all disability carriers in the early 90's. This company has the largest marketshare of disability insurance in force; they have moved away from an own-occupation product line to a simple income-replacement product.
Illinois Mutual - Probably one of the best carriers for gray and blue collar occupations. They are able to offer coverage to people with some insurability problems from other carriers.
Assurity Life - a close competitor with Illinois Mutual in the gray and blue collar market. Part of The Woodmen Financial Group with a diverse range of plans available.
Fidelity Security Life - an impaired risk company for blue and gray collar occupations.

Other carriers or products may be used, based on what fits your circumstances or situation.
